Click n' Glide

This year we will be launching a web tool for managing gliding clubs, widely used across Europe (especially in France): Click n’ Glide (www.clicknglide.com).

Impressive cumulus and no tow plane?

Lots of students and a single instructor?

Several trial/introductory flights and one or no pilot available?

3 instructors and no students?

A motivated student with no instructor?

These situations are common at gliding clubs. Click n’ Glide gives us the solution: it lets us anticipate flying days, organise instruction, ease the club’s internal communication and offers several other features.

Gliding is a group activity. It needs great coordination. This online application was designed to meet this need.

Created in early 2010 by the Toulouse - Bourg-Saint-Bernard club, this tool proves its effectiveness day after day and helps to energise the activity.

The flying day at a glance!

Before each day, members sign up according to their roles: instructor, student, trial-flight pilot, examiner, tow pilot, … Each member has an overall view of the day and can plan ahead. Will there be a tow plane? How many instructors will there be? The answers will be in plain sight.

Organise the instruction

So that all students can fly, each instructor decides the number of students they want during the day. This way they open up places for students to sign up.

Manage the sign-up lists

You can propose an event and everyone signs up with a click! Also useful for running a poll (choosing a date, for example).

A discussion forum for each day!

Share weather forecasts, remind everyone of the briefing time, warn that an aircraft is out of service, etc …

Car sharing

There are several of us coming from the same place! Mark the departure point and route on the map and see the car-sharing possibilities!

Trial-flight sign-up

Planned trial flights appear in the programme and can be seen from anywhere. If you are authorised to do them, volunteer.

Summary view and statistics

Plan flying days in the long term and analyse the club’s activity. View the information on an annual calendar or as graphs.

Automatic alerts

When the number of instructors, tow pilots or introductory-flight pilots is insufficient, a message will automatically be sent requesting reinforcements!

Sign-up by phone

If a member has no internet access, they just have to call the administrator to sign up. Administrators can add and remove members.

Reminder emails

For those who forget they are signed up, there is the option of receiving reminder emails.

A fully customisable tool

Choose the sign-up fields, roles, alerts, … Cross-country instruction, pilot in charge, field assistant, tow pilot, examiner, open day, aerobatics, …

… and all this while respecting the spirit of gliding

This online diary does not replace the pre-flight briefing. It does not allocate students among instructors (it only aims to ensure there are no students without an instructor and vice versa); aircraft bookings are made at the briefing. The flying day starts in the morning and ends in the afternoon for everyone.
