1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites install on the user’s device (computer, tablet, smartphone) while browsing, and that allow, for example, keeping a session or remembering a preference. In this policy, “cookies” also includes similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage.

The use of cookies and similar technologies is regulated in article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 of 11 July on information society services and electronic commerce (LSSI-CE), in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD), and following the Spanish Data Protection Agency’s (AEPD) Guide on the use of cookies.

3. Which cookies we use

The website volavela.com (the “Website”) uses two types of cookies. Necessary cookies, which do not require consent, and third-party content cookies, which are installed only if the user accepts them. The Club does not use its own analytics or advertising cookies.

3.1. Necessary cookies. They are essential for the Website to work: keeping the session, protecting it against unauthorised requests, remembering the chosen language, saving the user’s choice about cookies, and protecting the contact form against automated submissions. They do not require consent under article 22.2 LSSI-CE.

3.2. Third-party content. Some pages include content provided by other companies: a YouTube video on the home page (and help videos in the staff private area), Google Maps maps on “Where we are” and “Contact”, and weather (Windy) and flight-tracking (Glidernet) services on “Club”. To display it, these companies may install cookies and receive the user’s IP address. These cookies are installed, and this content is loaded, only if the user accepts it. Each provider is responsible for its own cookies, which are governed by its own policy.

3.3. Payment. Payment is made on the page of a payment service provider, to which the user is redirected. That page may install its own technical cookies, necessary for security and fraud prevention, which are governed by its own cookie policy. The Website does not include any payment code in its pages.

4. Consent and how to manage it

  • On their first visit, the user sees a panel with three options at the same level: Accept, Reject and Configure.
  • Until the user accepts, no third-party content cookie is installed and that content is not loaded: a notice with access to the settings is shown instead.
  • The user’s choice is saved for up to 24 months (some browsers, such as Chrome and Edge, limit the lifetime of cookies to about 13 months). After that period, or if this policy changes substantially, the user will be asked again.
  • The user can change or withdraw their consent at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. It prevents further loading of third-party content, but third-party cookies that were already installed stay in the browser until the user deletes them (see section 6).
  • Rejecting cookies does not prevent using the Website or making a purchase.

7. Updates to this policy

The Club may update this Cookie Policy to adapt it to legislative changes, criteria of the supervisory authorities, or changes in the cookies it uses. Where the changes are substantial or legally required, users will be informed by appropriate means and asked for their choice again. The version published on the Website states the date of its last update.
