My first solo… by Ricard Viladomiu

This time it was Ricard Viladomiu’s turn to make his first solo flight. He tells us about his experience…

On 18 November the long-awaited day arrives. A perfect day, windless and calm.

Nerves and respect, but excitement and eagerness win out. Manel’s last bits of advice and… taking up slack.

A smooth tow, with Marc’s usual gentleness. 500 m, but I feel fine, I carry on to 600 m and… “K13 free.”

I’m calmer than I expected… for now. I make a few turns in front of Puig Aguilera and, at 400 m, head for the circuit.

I begin the downwind leg and the nerves grow as the landing approaches. Final, flare, and a good touchdown (so said Manel!). The nerves are over.

A very happy and special moment, shared with Manel and Domènec.

Ricard.
