The Igualada Team shines at the 2017 Copa Pirineus, taking second and third place in the Club class.
Copa Pirineus (by Joan Claudi Minguell)
This year, the Club de Vol a Vela Igualada-Òdena had a good showing at the Copa Pirineus organised by our friends from the Centre de Vol a Vela de la Cerdanya between 21 and 27 May.
The enthusiasm of Sergi Pujol, Joan Fresno and Jaume Prats in organising the Cup passed on to everyone the best expression of the fighting spirit and camaraderie that our sport has.
In the Open class, Francesc Pàmpols went head to head with the best pilots in the Pyrenees.
And in the Club class, where the apprentices Luigi and myself saw Pep Valls’ Jantar from very far away, we are satisfied and happy for having dared to cross valleys and clouds we had never explored, for having entered thermals with four and five gliders, landed in unknown fields and tried to close tasks that were unimaginable a few days earlier. Congratulating, wholeheartedly, every afternoon, Daniel Broto, who managed to close the task day after day with intelligent and brave flights in his Ventus, battling very changeable weather.
Results? As for the podiums: worth highlighting the second and third places in the Club class for Dani and Pep, respectively. And a great desire to come back next year. Better prepared. Ready to win it all. With many more participants from our club and broadening the collaboration between both clubs. Sharing the tow plane, perhaps? We’ll see. In any case, enjoying once again the sight of four “Libelle” on the starting grid!
