Discover the
Gliding

The art of flying without an engine, taking advantage of air currents like birds do. A unique experience of freedom and connection with nature.

What is Gliding?

Gliding is a sport based on the ability to stay airborne in a sailplane (glider) by taking advantage of the aerodynamics of the aircraft and the rising air currents generated in the atmosphere.

The Art of Flying Without an Engine

Since sailplanes do not have an engine, they must be towed by a tow plane to a certain height (usually about 500 meters). From that moment on, the sailplane is free, and it is the pilot who makes it climb, controls its movements, and lands it using their own skill and atmospheric resources.

It is the purest form of flying: in total silence, feeling every air current, every thermal, every movement of the atmosphere, just like birds do in nature.

Three Ways to Gain Altitude

Slope Soaring

Take advantage of the upward current produced when air collides with the slope of a mountain and is forced to rise to overcome it.

For this type of flight, it is necessary to have wind and for it to face the mountain. It works practically all year round.

Thermal Soaring

Take advantage of the upward air currents generated when the ground heats up due to solar radiation.

Thermals are typical in spring and summer. These upward air currents often end up forming a cloud.

Wave Soaring

A typical winter flight where the rebound of the wind (which must be very strong) is taken advantage of in large mountains like the Pyrenees.

In this type of flight, the most impressive heights are reached. Heights of over 6,000 meters have been surpassed.
